چکیده

Background: Bare-metal stents are widely used in Chinese population with coronary artery disease. Many reports of predictors of in-stent restenosis (ISR) are available from trials mainly conducted in the Western population. However, predictors of ISR in Chinese population are rarely described. Methods: This study enrolled 609 patients who had procedural success of coronary stenting with bare-metal stents and 6-month angiographic follow-up from January 1998 to December 2000 in our hospital. The baseline characteristics, angiographic and procedural parameters of these patients were collected into our database. The definition of ISR was more than 50 stenosis at the intervention site. Results: Two hundred and fifty-one patients (41.2 ) had ISR and 358 patients without ISR. By univariate analysis, the predictors of ISR were diabetes mellitus, multi-vessel disease, left anterior descending artery lesion, complex lesion, small vessel and stent sizes, long stent and lesion lengths and small post-procedure minimal luminal diameter. By multivariate analysis, the independent predictors of ISR were post-procedure minimal luminal diameter (OR: 1.969, 95 CI: 1.435-2.703; p < 0.001), diabetes mellitus (OR: 1.831, 95 CI: 1.274-2.633; p = 0.001), complex lesion (OR: 1.827, 95 CI: 1.040-3.209; p = 0.036), and left anterior descending artery involvement (OR: 1.498, 95 CI: 1.032-2.173; p = 0.033). Conclusion: In this study, post-procedure minimal luminal diameter, presence of diabetes mellitus, complex lesions and left anterior descending artery involvement are predictive of 6-month angiographic restenosis inside bare-metal stents in Chinese population.

Randomized comparison of carbon ion-implanted stent versus bare metal stent in coronary artery disease: the Asian Pacific Multicenter Arthos Stent Study (PASS) trial.

BACKGROUND Heavy metal ions can cause allergic and inflammatory reactions that might be associated with in-stent restenosis. This randomized multicenter clinical study was designed to determine if carbon ion-implanted stents reduce luminal late loss by blocking heavy metal ion diffusion into the surrounding tissue. METHODS A total of 225 patients with 230 native coronary lesions were randomly...

The stenting strategy of drug-eluting stents for coronary artery disease in patients on dialysis

BACKGROUND Reports regarding the relationship between the length and diameter of implanted drug-eluting stents and clinical and angiographic outcomes in dialysis patients are limited. AIM We investigated the efficiency of drug-eluting stents for coronary artery disease in patients on dialysis from the viewpoint of stent sizing. METHODS Sirolimus-eluting stents were implanted in 88 lesions a...

Midterm outcomes of prospective, randomized, single-center study of the Janus tacrolimus-eluting stent for treatment of native coronary artery lesions.

BACKGROUND Long-term efficacy and safety of tacrolimus-eluting stent (Janus) for treatment of coronary artery disease in percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) "real world" is uncertain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Janus stent for treating coronary heart disease in PCI daily practice, the safety of 4-month clopidogrel therapy after Janus stent implantatio...

[Acute and long-term clinical results of bare metal coronary stenting].

BACKGROUND Since the introduction of stents in 1994, improved clinical results have boosted the development of coronary angioplasty in Chile. Drug eluting stents, that have a reduced rate of restenosis, are being increasingly used. AIM To assess the acute and long-term results of bare metal stent implantation. PATIENTS AND METHODS Acute and long-term clinical, procedural and angiographic re...

Influence of a pressure gradient distal to implanted bare-metal stent on in-stent restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention.

BACKGROUND Fractional flow reserve predicts cardiac events after coronary stent implantation. The aim of the present study was to assess the 9-month angiographic in-stent restenosis rate in the setting of optimal stenting and a persisting gradient distal to the stent as assessed by a pressure wire pullback recording in the entire length of the artery. METHODS AND RESULTS In 98 patients with a...
